CMS

Cakewalk Websites provides a CMS (Content Managing System) for those clients who want to manage their content (also called "backend"). A CMS does not come standard with our websites. The vast majority of our clients are too busy and don't have the time to read a manual or watch tutorial videos on how to use their CMS. Furthermore, it takes a great deal of knowledge to compose webpages that are pleasant to read and are structured in a way that makes sense to your vitiors and search engines.

Then there is the aspect of microdata (also called "structured data"). This requires certain content of your webpage to be wrapped in tags which is done by working inside the code of the webpage. Microdate is not a "must" but can greatly improve your search engine rankings.

Cakewalk Websites does not compete with companies like Wix or Squarespace. We choose to cater to a specific clientele who wants to have everything taken care of. In fact, almost all of our clients had a Wix or a Squarespace website and gave up or got stuck because their template could not grow with their business.

Google Compliant S.E.O.

If an S.E.O. (Search Engine Optimization) company promises you will rank on Google's first page it's a scam. No one can guarantee anything when it comes to search engines as they keep changing their algorithms. Google lists twenty businesses per page. What if S.E.O. companies promise sixty restaurants they will be on the first page?

There is no secret hocus pocus voodoo magic to S.E.O. as Google publishes their guidelines for all the world to see. You cannot pay to cheat the system. Cakewalk Websites strictly follows Google guidelines to optimize search engine results for your website.

404 Error Page

When visitors enter a URL or follow a link to a web page that no longer exists or has been moved to another location, they get a 404 error. As an example, Please click the link to this non existing page cakewalkwebsite.com/hahaha. A standard 404 error page is unsettling and gives visitors the impression they are no longer on your website. A custom 404 error page is part of your website and has navigation to help visitors find the desired page. Now click the following link to a non existing page cakewalkwebsites.com/hihihi. This custom 404 error page will keep your visitors on your website.

301 Redirects

Cakewalk Websites creates "301 redirects" for clients with an existing website who want a slightly different structure for their new website. Let's say your old website had a web page for pricing (mywebsite.com/princing) and another web page for services (mywebsite.com/services), but now you want your pricing and services on the same web page (mywebsite.com/pricing_services). If the old link was bookmarked or appears on other websites, visitors who click it will get a 404 error as that web page no longer exist or might be in another location. It's called a "broken link". They make a bad impression with your visitors and they are bad for your search engine ranking. A 301 redirect will redirect those who click on a bookmark or link to mywebsite.com/services or to mywebsite.com/pricing to mywebsite.com/pricing_services.
